LATS Offers Scholarship for Alou Council area

Some twenty six (26) Lebialem children of Alou Council area and
Belluah have been awarded scholarships for the 2007/ 2008 academic
year. This scholarship is a three-year joint project between the
Council of Montasola in Italy, the Council of Alou in Cameroon and
Lebialem Association for Twining of Schools (LATS) Cameroon,
principally funded by the Council of Montasola in Italy.


The initiatorof this project is Prof. Nkafu Martin (Mbe Nkemnkia), Founder and
President of LATS is based in Rome, Italy.
The scholarship per pupil consisted of all furniture for the
year: text books, exercise books, pens, pencils, ruler and a school
bag. According to the Mayor of Alou, Prince Pierre-Marie Forgap and
the Secretary of LATS, Mbe Nkemnji Denis, the twenty pupils from Alou
were selected based on academic excellence and considering "fondom"
balance in Alou Subdivision; Thus, they were selected from twenty
different primary schools (both government and catholic) of Ndungated,
Fonjumetaw, Lewoh, M'mockgie, Nwangong, Njenawung and M'mockbie.

The award ceremony took place on September 23, 2007 in the Alou
Council premises and presided by the Lord Mayor of Alou, Prince
Pierre-Marie Forgap. The ceremony was attended by the pupils and their
parents, head teachers of the beneficiary schools, the first Assistant
Divisional officer for Alou, the Inspector of Basic Education for
Alou, the Deputy Mayor of Alou, the Secretary and Financial Manager of
LATS; and many curious onlookers.
Recipients expressed joy and thanked
LATS and Prof Nkafu for the magnificent academic gift that many of
them described a 'Christmas present'. The pupils promised to study hard
and to give 100% success rate in their upcoming exams.
