Ndungated Fon in USA, Addresses Elites

Webmaster's Note: culled from 99 net by site administrator
Addressing the Bekem meeting in Washing DC Wednesday June 20th 2012 at his Lanham Palace, HRM Fon FOTO ASONGNA II of Ndungatet told the members of the Bekem meeting who came out in their numbers for a courtesy visit at the Palace that they should never forget the essence of the title they hold. According HRM, Bekem are peace makers and they should never forget this important purpose of their titles. HRM stressed the fact that in a traditional fondom or chiefdom setting , the bekem are like special envoys of the fon or chief and any fondom or chiefdom with bekem should never have a war between its own people, because if that happens , then the bekem of that fondom/ chiefdom have lost their role in that society. speaking on behaklf of the Bekem meeting , the president , Mbe Tazi Ate’awung IX thank His Royal Majesty for the warmth welcome , and for taking his time to receive and listen to them . the president reiterated the fact that , the purpose of the meeting was to uphold the culture and tradition of lebialem people while away from the village, and to keep reminding all bekem that their functions in their various chiefdoms as bekem is essential and they should always be involve in their activities even outside the country. He said another reason for creating this group was to unite the lebialem people here in the dc metro area, while passing forward our cultural heritage to our children born here. On that note, Mbe Mbuialah Nicolas Forka gave the historic of the bekem meeting and call upon his royal Majesty to encourage bekem and title holders from his fondom to join this group that has a lot to contribute towards our culture and tradition. Speaking on behalf of the Ndungated Elites in the Dc metro, Mr. Michael Nkeng CEO of Chariot Group, thanked the Bekem meeting for taking time off their busy schedule to pay this significant courtesy visit to the Fon, and praise the Bekem meeting for their spirit of unity and solidarity in the community. the evening ended with general discussions as well as sharing of kola nuts and palm wine in a typical lemoh setting. Reporting from the Palace of the Fon of Ndungatet in lanham It’s been Chris Asong Sinju Humble servant of HRM

Cameroon: Ndungated Fondom Showcase Culture

Cameroon: Ndungated Fondom Showcase Culture
Fosung David
14 January 2010
________________________________________
A one week cultural festival that held at the court yard of the Ndungated Fon's palace from 14th- 20th December aimed at giving traditional farewell to their ancestors was marked by cultural, choral and tradition rites as provided by the tradition of the Lebialem people. For one week over 300 traditional dances were performed.
Each Fon among the 17 fondoms that make up Lebialem Division produced one or more traditional dance as a mark of good relationship. It was an occasion for the people of Ndungated Fondom in particular, and lebialem in general to display their rich and varied cultural heritage which Fon Asongna Felix II, says the Fondom's is on UNISCO's world heritage list.
Addressing the huge crowd of over 10.000 people Fon Asongna felix II, of Ndungated village called on his subjects to jealously guard those customs and traditions that can foster spiritual, social and Economic development of the village, and warned against the creation of hybrid cultural associations that can transform the culture of the people into forums for political discussions, power struggle or image-seeking avenues. He said the cultural festivities to thank their ancestral spirit and parents, should also help the youths trace the history of their fore fathers as well as help these youths in cultural up-bringing, cultural revival and promotion.
"Know that the land of the living was not far from the ancestors because we must consult them every time for benedictions" Fon Assongna noted. He thanked the over 20 fons and chiefs who came from Manyu and Northwest and called on the gods of the land to guard them back. For his part, the National president of the Ndungated Cultural and development Association (NDUCUDA) Ndi Nkemasong Lawrence, thanked both external and internal elite of Ndungated Fondom for their moral and financial support in what he described as the "preservation of Ndungated cultural heritage". He called on the entire elite to turn this rich culture and make it a driving force for the development of their village.

Ndungated Development Initiative!

[Note from Moderator, (Amin Forji):
I will like to post the following important proposal from
Mr. Quinick Fidelis, ]

Hi Ndungated Elites,

I have been thinking for a long time now, on what we as Ndungated Elites can do right now to transform our beloved village.
As you all know, we need many so many basic things, and nothing would ever happen if we just fold our hands waiting for the government.

I hereby suggest that we execute atleast two big prominent projects this year. We can start by contributing money for a modern Town Hall and a public library, fully equipped with computers, if possible with internet too. The town Hall would be useful for all festivities in our village.
About the library, we can contribute books and all other reading materials. We abroad can sollicit from different organisations over here too.

This project would cost around 12 million francs cfa. Yound bush-fallers can contribute at least 500€ each. Established bush-fallers can contribute from 1500€ upwards. Civil servants and fonctionaires in Cameroon= 100,000Francs cfa upward. Parents & Youths= General Labour.

I as the proposer can personally donate €2,000.

So submit your propositions about this idea.

Our Fon would have to provide us with a big plot at three corners Ndungated.

It will be wonderful if we start the project by September this year to be completed before Christmas.
We can pay in two installments.

Thanks so much, i wait for your replies.

Sincerely,

Fidelis T. Quinick

Oslo Norway
