A one week cultural festival that held at the court yard of the Ndungated Fon's palace from 14th- 20th December aimed at giving traditional farewell to their ancestors was marked by cultural, choral and tradition rites as provided by the tradition of the Lebialem people. For one week over 300 traditional dances were performed.
Each Fon among the 17 fondoms that make up Lebialem Division produced one or more traditional dance as a mark of good relationship. It was an occasion for the people of Ndungated Fondom in particular,and lebialem in general to display their rich and varied cultural heritage which Fon Asongna Felix II, says the Fondom's is on UNISCO's world heritage list.
Addressing the huge crowd of over 10.000 people Fon Asongna felix II, of Ndungated village called on his subjects to jealously guard those customs and traditions that can foster spiritual, social and Economic development of the village, and warned against the creation of hybrid cultural associations that can transform the culture of the people into forums for political discussions, power struggle or image-seeking avenues. He said the cultural festivities to thank their ancestral spirit and parents, should also help the youths trace the history of their fore fathers as well as help these youths in cultural up-bringing, cultural revival and promotion.
"Know that the land of the living was not far from the ancestors because we must consult them every time for benedictions" Fon Assongna noted. He thanked the over 20 fons and chiefs who came from Manyu and Northwest and called on the gods of the land to guard them back. For his part, the National president of the Ndungated Cultural and development Association (NDUCUDA) Ndi Nkemasong Lawrence, thanked both external and internal elite of Ndungated Fondom for their moral and financial support in what he described as the "preservation of Ndungated cultural heritage". He called on the entire elite to turn this rich culture and make it a driving force for the development of their village.

Ndungated Development Initiative!

Hi Ndungated Elites,
I have been thinking for a long time now, on what we as Ndungated Elites can do right now to transform our beloved village.
As you all know, we need many so many basic things, and nothing would ever happen if we just fold our hands waiting for the government.
I hereby suggest that we execute atleast two big prominent projects this year. We can start by contributing money for a modern Town Hall and a public library, fully equipped with computers, if possible with internet too. The town Hall would be useful for all festivities in our village.
About the library, we can contribute books and all other reading materials. We abroad can sollicit from different organisations over here too.
This project would cost around 12 million francs cfa. Yound bush-fallers can contribute at least 500€ each. Established bush-fallers can contribute from 1500€ upwards. Civil servants and fonctionaires in Cameroon= 100,000Francs cfa upward. Parents & Youths= General Labour.
I as the proposer can personally donate €2,000.
So submit your propositions about this idea.
Our Fon would have to provide us with a big plot at three corners Ndungated.
It will be wonderful if we start the project by September this year to be completed before Christmas.
We can pay in two installments.

To qualify you must be• a practising teacher in primary or secondary education, or a teacher trainer, who has not previously attended the conference• someone who has not travelled outside Africa before• unable to finance such a trip from your own resources
You need NOT• be a member of IATEFL• submit a proposal for presentation at the conferenceThere will be two scholarships available for the Cardiff 2009 conference. The scholarship will provide a free conference registration and help towards accommodation, meals and travel expenses to a maximum of £2000.No one can be awarded the scholarship more than once.To be considered, please send• a summary curriculum vitae• a passport size photograph• a 500-word article on how attending the IATEFL conference will benefit you and your ESL/EFL community• a brief explanation of why you are applying for the scholarship
