Ndungated Fon in USA, Addresses Elites

Addressing the Bekem meeting in Washing DC Wednesday June 20th 2012 at his Lanham Palace, HRM Fon FOTO ASONGNA II of Ndungatet told the members of the Bekem meeting who came out in their numbers for a courtesy visit at the Palace that they should never forget the essence of the title they hold. According HRM, Bekem are peace makers and they should never forget this important purpose of their titles. HRM stressed the fact that in a traditional fondom or chiefdom setting , the bekem are like special envoys of the fon or chief and any fondom or chiefdom with bekem should never have a war between its own people, because if that happens , then the bekem of that fondom/ chiefdom have lost their role in that society.
speaking on behaklf of the Bekem meeting , the president , Mbe Tazi Ate’awung IX thank His Royal Majesty for the warmth welcome , and for taking his time to receive and listen to them . the president reiterated the fact that , the purpose of the meeting was to uphold the culture and tradition of lebialem people while away from the village, and to keep reminding all bekem that their functions in their various chiefdoms as bekem is essential and they should always be involve in their activities even outside the country. He said another reason for creating this group was to unite the lebialem people here in the dc metro area, while passing forward our cultural heritage to our children born here. On that note, Mbe Mbuialah Nicolas Forka gave the historic of the bekem meeting and call upon his royal Majesty to encourage bekem and title holders from his fondom to join this group that has a lot to contribute towards our culture and tradition.
Speaking on behalf of the Ndungated Elites in the Dc metro, Mr. Michael Nkeng CEO of Chariot Group, thanked the Bekem meeting for taking time off their busy schedule to pay this significant courtesy visit to the Fon, and praise the Bekem meeting for their spirit of unity and solidarity in the community.
the evening ended with general discussions as well as sharing of kola nuts and palm wine in a typical lemoh setting.
